Exploring male beauty through art.

The work you will find here explores both the beauty of the male form and our societal obsession with sex. This is true for both the sculpture and photography. There is also work highlighting interesting patterns in our environment; then some which are evocative, either for their beauty or some other singular characteristic they convey.

In The Boys images, Barbie’s friends, Ken and Steven, meet up with the Gay Billy Doll and Gay Carlos Doll, along with the Barbie rendition of Cher and a GI Joe or two. These images explore our cultural hang-ups with sex and beauty, and the cultural pressures to achieve physical perfection. They also confront gay stereotypes and what it means to be masculine in a same sex relationship. Some are just fun.

The Environmental images explore the shapes and patterns created by nature or man. The scallops, whorls and coronas produced by flowing water or human intervention are surprising and sometimes dramatic.

The Singular images are ones I’ve found to be either extremely beautiful or unexpectedly meaningful: the quiet and calm along the Mississippi river in the early morning; or the strangely similar look from both my Grandmother and my dog. With their beauty and ability to portray an emotion or characteristic, they are singularly arresting.

The Nyx sculptures are my modern interpretation of Scandinavian and Germanic home and garden spirits. The nude figures are individually sculpted using stoneware clays. They are high-fired for durability and should be equally at home in your house or garden.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoy your visit. Please take your time browsing the galleries. To see the photographs and sculpture in person, check out my schedule. I look forward to talking with you.

I will update the schedule with how my applications are coming along and to which shows I actually get accepted.
